Title: Oral Contraceptive Consumption in the Czech Republic Author: Barbara Zahradniková, DiS. Supervisor: PharmDr. Lenka Ťupová, Ph.D. Introduction: Hormonal contraception is a group of drugs used to prevent pregnancy. In addition, it is also used in the number of other indications, such as reducing the manifestations of acne vulgaris, reducing heavy menstrual bleeding, regulating the menstrual cycle or relieving premenstrual symptoms. Objective: The aim of the diploma thesis was to analyse and evaluate the consumption of all types of hormonal contraception in the Czech Republic in the period from 2008 to 2022 using data obtained from the database of the State Institute for Drug Control (SIDC). Methods: A retrospective consumption analysis was used for the evaluation. Consumption was evaluated based on the number of packages delivered to healthcare facilities in the period between 2008-2022. The obtained data were classified according to individual ATC codes and then compared according to established parameters, e.g. type of evaluated hormonal contraception or dosage form. Results: During the monitored period, the consumption of combined contraception clearly dominated (89,62 %) over the progestagen type of contraception (10,38 %). In the case of combined hormonal contraception, the largest part...
Effects of hormonal contraceptives on women's health and fertility
HAVLUJOVÁ, Anna
The bachelor thesis Effect of hormonal contraception on women's health and fertility is dealing with women's knowledge about hormonal contraception, about its effects and its risks and at the same time finds out, from where women take information about hormonal contraception most often. Thesis is divided to theoretical and practical part. In theoretical part is described a history of contraception, phase of the hormonal cycle, which is related to the usage of hormonal contraception and different kinds of contraception including description of advantages and disadvantages based on each types. The individual types of non-hormonal and hormonal contraceptions are described here including their benefits and risks based on their usage. At the end of the theoretical part is added a chapter on the education of women about hormonal contraception by midwives. In the practical part is qualitative research, which consisted from 12 interviews. There is described woman's awareness about benefits and risks, which usage of hormonal contraception represents. Research finds out sources, from which women most often derive their information about homornal contraception. The main point of the thesis is to find out woman's awareness about benefits and risks connected with usage of hormonal contraception, which can affect their health, but also can have negative impact on fertility. The results of research pointed out an insufficient awareness about function of hormonal contraception and poor knowledge in the area of using hormonal contraception. Only two women were able to state serious risk of thrombosis occurence. The knowledge about hormonal contraception were basic and disparate. Women don't use all of available sources of informations. They usually rely on informations from their gynecologist and from closest surroundings. Superficial knowledge is enough for most, but they do not deal with them more in depth. It is necessary to focus more on education on this topic in order for women to not look only on the benefits, but to mainly think about risks, which, hormonal contraception represents and may affect their planned pregnancy in the future. It would be appropriate to focus on women education already in the schools and later in gynecologist's office, where they could apply and pass on their knowledge of a midwife.
Historical development of the usage of contraception since the end of the 20th century to the present time
Bajerová, Michaela ; Černý, Andrej (advisor) ; Šimonová, Daniela (referee)
The bachelor thesis topic is "Historical development of the use of contraceptives from the end of the 20th century to the present day". It is divided into 2 parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is devoted to the basic and extended division of contraceptives into hormonal and non-hormonal forms. After the basic division, we can find a table of contraceptive reliability. Furthermore, we will find the favourable, unfavourable effects and possible contraindications of hormonal and non-hormonal contraception. The history of each form is also briefly mentioned. In the practical part, I was interested in the different views of three generations of women and examined the historical development of demand for forms of contraception across their reproductive ages. I constructed a total of 3 questionnaires to better distinguish differences of opinion. I obtained responses from a total of 403 respondents in the categories of women born before 1979, between 1980-1989, and born after 1990 inclusive. The pre-constructed hypotheses helped me to evaluate each objective. For the second question, each respondent had to answer whether she had encountered contraceptives at least once; this allowed me to eliminate biased results, and thus only women who had encountered contraceptives more than once...

Luksová, Veronika ; Sojková, Monika (advisor) ; Kocík, Miroslav (referee)
In the theoretical part of my thesis I define the illness, venous thromboembolic disease. The theoretical principles are used to determine the risks of the disease onset in women, primarily focused on the risk related to the hormonal contraception usage and the hormone replacement therapy. Attention is paid to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the DVT as well. In the following chapters the readers will be apprised with the treatment procedures, primarily from the nursing care perspective. The theoretical part of the thesis will be concluded with the casuistry of patient who suffers the thromboembolic disease and who was in my personal nursing care. The empirical part of my thesis is aimed on the qualitative and related quantitative research, which will be carry out by the help of the questionnaire. The questionnaire is based on the outcoume of the data analysis (casuistry) gained at the Clinic of Cardiology, FN Motol. The questionnaire is distributed and determined for wide group of women from non-medical environment (layman). The results of my research are giving the respons on the thesis's goals and hypotheses. Posekaná, Pavlína ; Pešicová, Lucie (advisor) ; Havlíčková, Michaela (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis was to summarize the topic of the anterior cruciate ligament (LCA) injury dependency on the menstrual cycle phase of young women with regular sport activity. The general part describes basic knowledge about connective tissue, LCA, issues of LCA injury and related risk situations. Large chapter is dedicated to sex hormones and menstrual and ovarian cycle, which is crucial for understanding the whole topic. The main part is focused on impact of sex hormones and hormonal contraception on connective tissue, but also on muscle and nervous tissues, which might be as well important for LCA injury incidence. Next part of the thesis consists of a questionnaire survey. 52 respondents aged 15-35 with rupture or partial rupture of LCA answered the non-standardized questionnaire compiled specially for this thesis and the results were statistically processed. 14 respondents were using hormonal contraception, remaining 38 had physiological menstrual cycle. Based on the theoretical findings we expected highest incidence of LCA injuries among women without contraception in phases of menstrual cycle with highest levels of oestrogen (10th -15th day). That was confirmed (P-value: 0,0218) as well as overall lower incidence among women using contraception (P-value: 0,0006). Expected higher...
